The First Zombie-Proof House

The aptly name "Safe House,” designed by KWK Promes, is a rather good jump off point for the future of house designs, especially for a generation fed on a pop-culture diet of the un-dead. This house would make just about anyone fell safe if 200 shambling zombies came over to eat their way into borrowing some sugar.

“The most essential item for our clients was acquiring the feeling of maximum security,” begins the architects’ website in the summary of the structure. Who wouldn’t feel safe in a concrete rectangle that folds in upon itself to become completely sealed? Even the windows are covered with a slab of concrete when the structure is on nap time.

The house, with its movable walls, has only one entrance, which is located on the second floor after crossing a drawbridge. Seems like the perfect opportunity to use a flamethrower and defend the life of your family, while stylishly nesting in a piece of architectural elitism.

One can only hope they remembered to install a snipers perch on the roof to help defend, or a helipad to enable escape should the need arise.

Zombie Hunter Arrested

A self-described "zombie enthusiast" was busted at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in possession of swords, knives, burglar tools, night-vision goggles and hand-drawn blueprints, The Post has learned.

Christopher Rodger, 25, first drew the attention of two PA cops Tuesday when he was spotted wearing a trench coat on a warm night, and had an "empty" look in his eyes, sources said.

PA Officers Thomas Kemble and Leonard Trubia grew even more suspicious when they spotted the long camouflage bag Rodger had slung over his shoulder.

When the cops questioned him, Rodger blurted that he was carrying a gas-powered pellet gun. That prompted a search which also turned up five samurai swords, three daggers and other knives, police said.

Sleeping With Zombies

Sleep. It might sound crazy, impossible even, bit it is essential if you’re going to make it through a full-blown zombie outbreak. Without rest your muscles deteriorate, senses dull and each passing hour reduces your ability to function fully.

Believing that you can load up on caffeine or energy drinks and power on through your journey to safety will only lead to diaster.

Travelling in small groups allows for more securing sleeping arrangements, with individuals staying on watch whilst everyone sleeps. Of course, even in the relative safety of having someone on guard will not make getting to sleep any easier.

No matter how difficult it may be to get to sleep, stay away from sleeping pills. If zombies attack during the night, your fellow survivors might not be able to fully wake you in time.
